In August of 1914, the German East Asia Cruiser Squadron began its journey eastward across the Pacific. On November 1, the
squadron engaged and defeated ships of the British West Indies Squadron (Admiral Craddock) only to be destroyed by Admiral
Sturdee's battlecruisers at the Battle of the Falkland Islands on December 8, 1914. Although the SCHARNHORST, GNEISENAU,
LEIPZIG and NURNBERG were lost during this engagement, the cruisers EMDEN, DRESEN, KONIGSBERG and KARLSRUHE which had been
detached earlier or were operating independently at the start of hostilities, were also eventually hunted down and sunk.
The East Asia Cruiser Squadron shirt honors the legendary East Asia Cruiser Squadron (kreuzergeschwader) and is imprinted with
a collage featuring flagship SMS SCHARNHORST, Admiral von Spee and Captain von Muller of the EMDEN on the front and line drawings of the eight
ships of this famous squadron of Imperial German Navy cruisers on the back.
The East Asia Squadron Shirt is available as the classic white 100% cotton pre-shrunk Hanes t-shirt or the 100% cotton pre-shrunk jersey-style
(3/4-sleeve) shirt in white with color collar and sleeves or the soft & comfortable, medium-weight 90/10 cotton/polyester Hanes Ultimate sweatshirt
or Gildan 100% UltraCotton pre-shrunk black t-shirts.
