On 16 December 1907, sixteen of the newest battleships of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet began their voyage around the world. This cruise, which covered
more than 45,000 miles and made twenty port calls on six continents, would later become known as the cruise of the Great White Fleet. The fourteen-month
long voyage lasted until February 22, 1909 and was commanded by Rear Admiral Robley D. Evans until the fleet arrived in San
Francisco when Rear Admiral Charles S. Sperry assumed command.
These 11oz. ceramic mugs are dishwasher safe and feature the famous photo of the Atlantic Fleet departing Hampton Roads along with cameos of Presidend Theodore Roosevelt,
Admiral Evans and Admiral Sperry on the front. The back has a rendering of your choice of one of the five classes of battleships that participated in the world cruise of the Great White Fleet:
Connecticut Class - USS CONNECTICUT (BB18), USS LOUISIANA (BB19), USS VERMONT (BB20), USS KANSAS (BB21), USS MINNESOTA (BB22); Virginia Class - USS VIRGINIA (BB13),
USS NEBRASKA (BB14), USS GEORGIA (BB15), USS NEW JERSEY (BB16), USS RHODE ISLAND (BB17); Maine Class - USS MAINE (BB10), USS MISSOURI (BB11), USS OHIO (BB12); Kearsarge
Class - USS KEARSARGE (BB5), USS KENTUCKY (BB6); Illinois Class - USS ILLINOIS (BB7) USS ALABAMA (BB8), USS WISCONSIN (BB9).
